Should work as is

I found elsewhere on the forum it does not with this particular drive and firmware... Seems firmware is not possible to patch.

G'Day all.

Apologies if this has been answered, I'm new to all of this. Have been using MakeMKV for ages, love it. Have a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-S12U looking to see if there is a firmware for it for UHD ripping. Reading this forum the impression I get is I'm out of luck, needs to be firmware 1.02 not 1.04 as I have. Checking if that is the case.

Drive details:

Drive Information
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-S12U
Revision: 1.04
Serial number: CDDL007444WL
Firmware date: 2022-12-20
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 76

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8F01
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-212T
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.04/ID43
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
That needs nothing. It is already libredrive enabled and is a UHD drive so just insert a UHD disc and start ripping it!
Thanks for that. I tried a disc and it failed. Mentioning libredrive wasn't supported. Is there a way of testing that?
The Pioneer drives with post 11/2022 firmware gained libredrive support back in November. When did you last try a disc?

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled

Your drive is a UHD model and libredrive is enabled, so nothing to be done. It is good to go. If you are unable to rip a disc, paste the log window text.
Cheers :D

I wanted to verify if my drive is compatible to be flashed before I rip apart my PC to use this drive. Any info I can get is greatly appreciated. Let me know if there is anything else you may need form me.

It's probably ok.

To be sure, you need to post the MakeMKV drive info.

The drive is flashabe.

See the SDFtool Flasher thread - first page.

Download the tool & the "All you need" firmware pack. I *think* it's the DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.02_MK.bin for that drive (to cross-flash it). Answer is in that thread - search the thread.
