Sry for the confusion.

I followed one of the links you posted and I was talking the the UK seller. For some reason I originally thought it was you. But it was my mistake.

He is recommending that i buy the (BDR-S12UHT) does anyone here recommend this drive?
I don't want to spend the money for something that doesn't work [again]

I attempted one last try by disconnecting the power cable from the drive and re-attaching it.
as a miracle it started to work, until around 50% then gave me some errors:

I'm not really sure man If the drive is brand new it's probably defective.
But as been said many times even new discs need to be cleaned sometimes worth a try

Small update.
So I've been troubleshooting all day and I decided to mess with the Java side of things.
MakeMKV was using Java through a third party program, so I removed that program because it was just experimental and installed java separately and now my first blu-ray rip is complete.
I'll try the next discs and give more feedback.

I don't believe java would cause that it's only used to figure out playlists

Final update on this topic.
So far the drive is working. I'm currently on my 5th disc.
my drive is a LG BH16NS40 and it came with a v1.05 firmware.
in summary what I did was:
flash the firmware to the WH16NS60 v1.02 using the SDFtool Flasher v1.3.3
the firmware is located in "The all you need firmware pack"
after flashing the firmware I disconnected the power sata cable from the drive then reconnected it. (Maybe a pc reboot may help, but it didn't work for me)
I then updated my Java software.
Hopefully this may help someone.
And also thanks to the community. I'll def. be contributing because I believe that we need to keep this project going.

Hello! I also have an Archgon drive I got recently, and I want to save my 4Ks with it. This is where I got it from: https://www.amazon.com/Archgon-Premium- ... B07BC9F98J

Here are the specifications listed by MakeMKV:

Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom0
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: MO9L91G5925
Firmware date: 2120-12-01 17:16
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 76

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 1.02
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

I've read many of the forums guiding how to flash the drive, and I believe I know how to flash, but my question is this: Which firmware is the safest/best to flash my drive with? My goal is to save my Blu-ray and 4K films in a file container compatible with most players (The MKV format seems very versatile).

I've been made aware by this forum -- viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634 -- Recommends firmware "1.03MK" for Archgon BU40N, which my drive seems to be, but reading this article, Marty recommends 1.00 (DE, I assume). I've contacted AVSForum here -- https://www.avsforum.com/threads/rippin ... 0/page-217 (at the very bottom of the page, currently) -- A registered member has assured me that the 1.04MK that I've already downloaded, ready to flash my drive with, would also work.

I would like to know from the best which would be the best for my preferences. If I must flash the drive twice or more, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Follow the guide below
So, basically, any MK version, or just 1.00 if not, right?

i prefer to keep the flashing when done by other to the leas amount of steps as possible to a firmware that always works.
so i recommend BU40N 1.03mk if you use makemkv if you use other rippers that dont work with 1.03mk then downgrade from there to 1.00.
