Sorry for asking, but last time I tried this I bricked my drive. I have tried to read the forums but I am not understanding which firmware and software (flasher) are applicable to my drive.

Also, if I flash the drive, will I still be able to use it for burning disks?

If not, would you please point me to relevant thread?

I think I have read most of the search results for this model and there are different people trying different firmware versions but I don't know if they are UHD friendly firmware.

I would appreciate someone that is more experienced doing a sanity check for me

I have succesfully flashed HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-BN12-0M01001-211905141415, however now the UHD I want to back up is still not being recognized. I can see the disc loading, but after a while it say No Disc Inserted

Hello cdemi,

maybe there is a (modified) Bufallo FW by now, which produces the desired result (= UHD blu-ray readability).
However my attempts roughly a year ago, were only fruitful with the modified LG FW.
