UHD Friendly Drive techPulsel20 = BD-RE BU40N

Post by hutchy71 »

I bought the external UHD-drive mentioned in the subject in Germany and would like to flash it UHD reader-friendly and preferably on a Linux system, Ubuntu 19.04, if necessary I would also have a Windows 10 to run.

Now the turorials here - at least for me - are quite confusing. Can someone explain in simple steps how I can achieve my goal. I would be very grateful to you for that !!!

I enclose pictures of the drive and the installed firmware:

One of several discussions on Linux native flashing can be found here:

And did you review the step-by-step video guide linked in this post where Billy walks the viewer through each step in a Windows environment?

I found my way, it was easy, used a Windows 10 system:

Download the windows tool

BH14NS40_N1.00-A4_patched.exe

install it und - in my case - flash with the firmware

DE_LG BU40N_1.00.bin

et voila ...it works.

Remember not to install makemkv via snap.

Useing Ubuntu 19.04, open terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:heyarje/makemkv-beta

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install makemkv-bin makemkv-oss
Hope that helps you. Good luck!
