Thanks MartyMcNuts your ASUS ODD FW 3.02 Updater for BW-16D1HT (Patched) worked like a charm on my BW-16D1HT and Vantec NST-536S3-BK on Windows 7.

Hi everyone,

I've given us another option for flashing our drives. I have modified the ASUS flasher tool to allow us to flash / cross-flash any UHD friendly firmware to out drives.

Check out thread titled: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher

or here is the link

Does you drive read disks in your USB to sata device not all USB to sata devices support optical disk drives they need atapi support

My Vantec NST-536S3-BK USB enclosure has a WH16NS40 NS50 drive.
It reads UHD blu ray discs.
I flashed the firmware with the old method from an older computer that could do this.
I don't plan to flash this working drive with the new program via USB.
I just wanted to let you know this enclosure at least reads the optical discs.
I did go as far as testing the new program for flashing with this enclosure plugged in & the WH16NS40 NS50 drive was detected.
That is as far as I plan to test.

@MaDMaX @Captain Ron,

As @SamuriHL said, I have patched the official ASUS 3.02 Updater (see last post of page 1) so that is all that you need to downgrade a BW-16D1HT from 3.03 to 3.02, even via USB.

This makes it a hell of a lot easier!!!
@MartyMcNuts / @ Billycar11

First, thank you so much for creating the Firmware downgrade tool and YT video for Asus BW-16D1HT. Amazing work!

Whenever I run your tool to downgrade, I first get the following error pop up:
Error.PNG
Error.PNG (29.06 KiB) Viewed 27084 times
Error Text:

"DeviceIoControl Error: Error Code 21
I can't issue Command throug0h SPTI"
<<OK>>

I took a chance (hugh risk) and clicked OK and the usual Firmware Downgrade window showed up next and proceeded with the suggested step. It downgraded the firmware to 3.0.2. However, I wonder why I aways get this error message when I run the program. Pls let me know if you know the reason. Thanks.

The drive is in the Vantec NexStar DX USB 3.0 enclosure connected to Win10 laptop through USB 3.0 port.

@nj54567,

I think it has something to do with the Vantec enclosure not wanting to pass all commands through to the drive. I'm pretty sure other people have had a similar issue with Vantec enclosures.
Cheers :D
