thanks MartyMcNuts , continued reading and further investigation has got me to the conclusion, getting an offical UHD drive in the uk att is not easy, i have the Asus BW-16D1HT and an icy box caddy saved in my account at scan.co.uk for approx £100 delivered, so think i might just plump for thatMartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 12:22 am@MaDMaX @Captain Ron,
As @SamuriHL said, I have patched the official ASUS 3.02 Updater (see last post of page 1) so that is all that you need to downgrade a BW-16D1HT from 3.03 to 3.02, even via USB.
This makes it a hell of a lot easier!!!

It's a great drive. I'm using mine right now with 3.02 on it to rip a disc. It's supported by LibreDrive. So awesome!

Nice work! That'll make life easier for everyone. Has anyone tried cross flashing using this method? Just wondering if cross flashing an LG NS60 to ASUS 3.02 would work with this method.
Meh, nevermind, I just did it. Yes, it works fine. LOL I'm flashing it back to the LG NS60 1.00 firmware and leaving it alone now, but, I was simply curious.

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
Yea, I was mostly just curious if it'd work. I have a real ASUS that I upgraded to 3.02 with the offiicial flasher when I got the drive in Dec '17 and have been using it since. I got the NS60 this past Dec just to have an "official" drive. Now that I've abused the hell out of it, I'm going to leave it alone on 1.00. LOL That was fun though. As for the sleep bug, I'm not impacted by that because another program I use has a fix for it so I've never actually run into it.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 1:48 amlol yes any will work they just will or wont have sleep bug depending in the fw but the bu40n it has different eject mechanism so that one wont let drives open the disk tray

Is there any way to complete this on a Mac?
Virtual Machine? Boot Camp?

maybe if you pass through a usb controller to the vm but booting up a full windows install would be best with no virtualization

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
I am getting ready to downgrade my WH16NS60 and WH14NS40 and I have couple of questions about the latest zip set from billycar11.
But before let me thank billycar11, mike and all that have contributed to this update!
1. With the Super great info from Mike about the byte change do we need to use DOSflash and a 32 bit Windows setup with ide to update?
2. The new zip from Billy has a patched exe to downgrade with the byte changed bins.
And I remember something about being able to just upgrade in place using sata or even usb.
I can take this two ways
1. initially you need to use Dosflash and a 32bit environment with ide and flash the byte changed firmware. Then after sata or usb way will work.
2. Or just use the new exe in the zip file to flash the drive in place.
Can someone knowledgeable clarify please.

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
All I can say is "WOW". Worked a treat. Very impressed! I was a little unnerved when I ran it and the ASUS ejected the disk tray, flashed the drive light for a bit and then didn't give a "Done" message. After 5 mins or so with nothing appearing to be happening I opened EAC and it confirmed the drive was now 3.02! I hasten to add that I forgot to disable AnyDVDHD before running the downgrade but other than a spurious "Reading disk please wait" message from AnyDVDHD it all went fine. Popped in a test UHD and it instantly was detected and I was able to do a test full disk backup no probs. Tried the backup on my Oppo 203 and it played perfectly. Now I am reading of interest about the LibreDrive developments. Fingers crossed my drive is supported as frankly that is an awesome development.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 12:22 am@MaDMaX @Captain Ron,

Re: Firmware downgrade using official (patched) flasher, the "Ultra hax0r guide"
Just use the patched flasher to flash one of the bin files Billy included. It will downgrade your drive and you'll be good to go. No dosflash, no ide, no 32 bit windows.
