Yeah, the steps can seem a bit daunting but really, this is the easy part!
Anyway, I have created a 3.02 for you. Just unzip it and you are good to go. Yes, use the same program (dosflash) to erase the firmware and then install the new firmware.
Let us know how you went..

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55
Hi
I have followed the steps in Post 1 using the Windows method. I had 3.03 firmware and modded 3.01 in a hex editor with the data from my dump. However this seemed to kill the drive, so I presume I edited it wrong! I have managed to load the original dump back on so the drive is working again just not reading UHD discs. Is anybody able to please edit my dump for me as this is the limit of my knowledge! I have attached it, changing the ext to .txt so I could upload it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Follow the steps in 1st post section 'Steps for importing data from backup firmwares : (Automatic Method)'.
The EEPOM Data Mover will do the cal data merge automatically.

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55
Hello all, I am new here and have recently built a NAS server & want to rip all my movies including 4K. I recently purchased a Asus BW-16D1HT because I heard it was able to RIP 4K DVDs however the latest firmware apparently has nixed this idea. I have come upon MakeMKV while looking into how to get this to work. I have dumped the firmware 3.03 and was wondering if someone here could help me with downgrading it to a version that will help me accomplish my mission. Thanks for any help in this matter

hello TeddyRaspin
I have performed the dump firmware using DOS Method, which it was a success. I also save and zipped it as you recommend it. Where should I send you this file?
Thanks

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to downgrade the firmware of the Asus on a laptop, please?
It can't be possible that there's no way to downgrade the firmware using an USB 3.0 port.

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55
Hi everyone,
I also have the Asus BW-16D1HT and Firmware 3.03. I used the DOS-method to read my firmware, however it keeps saying "Unknown flash chip" after I type R and press enter. Until that point, everything works. The drive is also in IDE mode on an old motherboard.
Any idea what I can do? Does it work better with the Windows 7 PE?

IIRC, when following the same DOS procedure, step 5:Colindo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 11, 2018 7:17 pmHi everyone,

At the command Prompt, type "DOSFLASH" and press Enter. If it does not detect anything, retype again. It could be needed to type DOSFLASH 3-4 times before ASUS/LG device be properly detected. It should show the Manufacter ID of your device, namely "MediaTek MT1959".
Was, more often than not, the case. However, once properly detected, everything went as described.
