Weird.

The BU40N has not the same power issue like the Pioneer BDR-UD03 / UD04. Which USB port do you use?

I don't know about another flashing related solution. Perhaps Marty can help.

The MakeMKV drive information before the first flash could be useful. But you've made no copy of the origin screen, I assume?

Nothing really helps,

I can't reflash the drive anymore. At least it still reads regular Blu-rays, so it's not completely dead yet.
Is it possible that the drive is having problems because it's not getting enough power via USB?
Then regular Blu-rays would probably have the same problems, right?

I'm at a loss, I'll probably have to return it, it's only 3 days old.
Unfortunately, you can't tell from the outside which drive you're getting.
Please post again the Makemkv info so we can see the current status of the drive.

It's reading UHDs above but who knows what's on it after several tries he did.

A drive is in the house, with no changes from me.
Laufwerksinformation

OS-Gerätename: D:
Aktuelles Profil: BD-ROM
Produzent: HL-DT-ST
Produkt: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.05
Serienummer: MO8P7MB0951
Firmware-Datum: 2124-04-23 13:47
Markierungen der Bus-Verschlüsselung: 17
Highest AACS version: 76

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

Disk-Informationen
Label: NO_TIME_TO_DIE
Zeitstempel: 2021-10-13 19:22:58
Schutz: AACS2.0/C v76
Datenkapazität: 92.16 Gb
Disk-Typ: BD-ROM UHD
Anzahl der Layer: 3
Markierungen der Bus-Verschlüsselung: 80

The drive can't read the 4kBD.
The drive can read the regular BD, though.

What are the next steps to take to avoid making any mistakes? Could the problem be that the drive isn't getting enough power from the USB port (I'll also be installing MakeMKV on another computer later), but then it probably wouldn't be able to read regular BDs either, right?

Is this another drive???

Since you are on Windows just flash BU40N 1.03 MK firmware with the SDFTool flasher. Makemkv has to be installed since SDFTool is just a GUI. Drive has to be empty and tray closed!!!

No boot loader. Just the default options and "Write".

Ok, I flashed it.
I just inserted a UHD disc, and it's reading it without any problems (so far) at 6x speed. That's very good.

What I find strange is that I can no longer select the "Save selected titles" function (3rd button).
And another question: If I check the boxes in the Integration settings, can I then copy individual titles directly from the disc using File Explorer?

Oh boy! Save selected titles only works if you click the big drive icon first. It will then save those to MKVs.

Integration is not for that purpose but to play the videos in VLC or MPC video player.

If you want to save the files on a disc then don't click the big drive icon and use the second icon and it will save to a folder with all content.

Another option if you want to save m2ts files from BD or UHD is to click the big drive icon. Makemkv then will open the disc and disable Bus encryption. Then you can copy the largest m2ts file with file explorer. But this will not work with discs that use seamless branching which is used for movies with a theatrical and extended version on the same disc. In that case you have many m2ts files that will be combined by the playlist mpls to show the one or other version.

Thaank you, for the info.

Next try with Jurassic World Dominion
Can'T read the disc.
Der Volumenschlüssel für die DVD/Blu-ray ist unbekannt - das Video kann nicht entschlüsselt werden

next disc the same:
AACS-VID kann nicht gelesen werden - höchstwahrscheinlich wird das AACS-Hostzertifikat durch Ihr Laufwerk aufgehoben
AACS Ausgabedatei als C:\Users\taube/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v61_Spider-Man_3_(2007)_FD87.tgz gesichert
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.
Das Öffnen der Disk schlug fehl

Try to reset the drive. Remove all power and USB and reconnect again.

If these discs are not yet supported by Makemkv it is a good idea to download KeyDB_Helper. It will install FindVUK and put a keydb.cfg in the .Makemkv folder. keydb.cgf is constantly updated. You just use the "Synchronize" function of KeyDB_helper to update with the newest keys. Makemkv is using keydb.cfg if it has not its own keys. See this thread that has also a link for it.
