Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Do we have any known working Slimline enclosures that aren't listed in the first post? Not finding those in stock.
Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
In December I purchased this from Amazon & swapped the included drive for the BU40N I had. Enclosure worked fine to flash the BU40N & then to rip 4K/UHD discs: External CD/DVD Drive for Laptop, DVD Burner CD Reader for Laptop, 8-in-1 USB 3.0 Portable CD Players with SD/TF Ports, External Disk Drive Optical for MacBook Windows 11 10 PC Linux OS
I paid $18 for it in December. The other ports/features are a nice bonus. It has the attached USB-C/USB-A data cable, and includes a second USB-C (dedicated power port) -> USB-A cable just for power.
Thanks,
Frank

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Damn. My last drive failed today. It won't power on. I have a huge media library and now I'm afraid I'll never be able to rip again. I can't find any supported drives anymore.
I see a couple on eBay for high prices but that seems risky. I've purchased all my discs. I just want to be able to rip my own media files to watch them on my Zidoo. Once all the old drives are out of supply is it game over for everyone?
Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Have you considered fixing it? It's probably something simple. Bad connector, dead capacitor, that sort of thing.BizzyB wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 5:30 amDamn. My last drive failed today. If the drive is an external USB 5 1/4", the case/chassis could probably easily be swapped & that's where the power supply is located.BizzyB wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 5:30 amDamn. Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
It's an internal SATA drive. Did some troubleshooting plugging it into different power supplies and nothing. Was working one day, then suddenly it wasn't. No power. I will probably be reaching out to you to buy a drive or 2. Do you have any vouches you can send me? Checked the sale thread but didn't see any. Thanks.nicholfd wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 2:47 pmIf the drive is an external USB 5 1/4", the case/chassis could probably easily be swapped & that's where the power supply is located.BizzyB wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 5:30 amDamn. If by "vouches", you are referring to MakeMKV discounts/codes, sorry - I do not.BizzyB wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 5:45 pmIt's an internal SATA drive. Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Please help. I am trying to flash the following drive but running into issues.
LG BP50NB40, SVC-NB52, MFR DATE 2024-10-22
Here is the info from MakeMKV before attempting to flash:
I used SDFtool v1.3.6 and the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin firmware, and now I get the following:
I am trying to flash HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP60NB10-1.02-NM00800-212005070935.bin, but it is not working. I think there is another step or two I am supposed to take, but I am having trouble figuring that out.
EDIT: Nevermind, I was able to figure it out with a post previously made by Marty!!!

MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Tue Jan 13, 2026 5:59 amYes, the SVC code is relevant. If SVC NB52 (look at the sticker underneath the drive), follow the steps in the first post (or the gif), substituting BP50NB40 for WP50NB40. I have pasted them below for you.
1. Flash the drive to BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK.
After a successful flash to the MK firmware of the drive do the crossflash:
2. Select the RECOVERY option and in the pop up window (as per the window title text), select the BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK firmware that you just flashed and click OPEN.
3. Select the BP60NB10 1.00-MK or BU40N 1.00 (this is what I recommend) firmware in the normal firmware selection drop box (as per the window title text) then click OPEN.
4. Click START
Thank you for the help! Much appreciated!

Follow the animated GIF/video on the first page/post of the SDFtool page. You must do the recover step as shown in the video.tthousand wrote: ↑Thu Feb 19, 2026 1:21 amPlease help. I am trying to flash the following drive but running into issues.

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
just saying guys my way works too as thats the easier way on mac and linux as there recover cli commands are not widely know and requires insider knowledge of the boot codes in the drive.
