Re: Pioneer BDR-UD03 UHD possibility
Hi together,
I recently bought a Verbatim 43890 with the model code BIAA including the Pioneer BDR-UD03.
But when I look at the drive information in MakeMKV, I see no LibreDrive information listed.
Also if I run makemkvcon on the drive I do not get more information:
Does that mean the drive is broken, or can it still be flashed?

Revision: 1.14
Serial number: xxx
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 81
No disc inserted
Code: Select all
Loaded SDF.bin version 0xa5
Pioneer firmware module v1.20
Commands:
dump [auto|full] dumps firmware image
dump full - dumps full rom image (if not disabled in firmware)
dump auto - dumps full image if possible, info data otherwise
speed get - prints current speed mode setting
speed set MODE - writes new default speed mode to EEPROM
Command produced 0 file(s)
Re: Pioneer BDR-UD03 UHD possibility
Please install Windows in a VM - best is VMWare - and post then the Makemkv info from Windows. You need to do this anyway if the drive is flashable. Or connect it to a Windows computer and report back then.kitty wrote: ↑Wed Feb 11, 2026 5:02 pmHi together,

Re: Pioneer BDR-UD03 UHD possibility
Hey Coopervid,
Not sure if I am doing something incorrect. After the process, instead of listing as BD-03, the drive shows up as BD-04.
But when I insert a Blu-ray+4K disc, the contents still show as only Blu ray in makemkv. Just like it was doing prior to any changes.
It also does not change the firmware date and version. Am I doing something wrong?

Indeed you are absolutely right, on a VM with Windows the LibreDrive information is showing up (the drive information is a bit miss-mapped from the VM I guess).
(Kind of new to me, all my LG drives show the LibreDrive information before and after flashing on Linux^^)
Here is the output:

Re: Pioneer BDR-UD03 UHD possibility
Fine. PM sent to flash it to UD04 for reading UHD discs.
Re: Pioneer BDR-UD03 UHD possibility
Why is everyone paying for this firmware flasher? PM me and I can give it to you for free.
