What adapter are you using to connect the drive?uzless wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 8:58 pmDEBUG: Code 2164260866 at z^.m+4.6#2(DX)H{:29395287

the one that came with the verbatim. There's a power cord that plugs into the wall and a USB plug that goes into the laptop as well as another usb that i also plug into the laptop at the same time in another port on the laptop. It's worked great for about 500 rips but now i'm getting these errors. the windows computer makes a beep when i plug in the usb but then a few seconds later it beeps again. Almost like it recognizes there is something plugged into it but then it disconnects? Maybe? I tried handbrake and it doesn't recognize there is a disc in the drive either. I'm wondering if the ud03 is not sending a signal to the laptop.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 11:16 pmWhat adapter are you using to connect the drive?uzless wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 8:58 pmDEBUG: Code 2164260866 at z^.m+4.6#2(DX)H{:29395287

The low power thing makes sense but then why would this set up have worked for 500 plus rips already? I"m no techie so i appreciate any help/ideas. i've also plugged the wall unit into multiple outlets around the house with no difference. My usb ports are SS 3.1 (dell inspiron 7000 series (a bit old now).

Oh, you didn't say it was a Verbatim. You just said BDR-UD03 so I assumed it was a bare drive.uzless wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 1:22 amthe one that came with the verbatim. Anyway, the power supply or the USB cable itself may be faulty. Can you try a different USB cable? Preferably USB-C if possible.

Re: Debug Error code - can't find usuable optical drive
sorry external slimline bluray writer. It doesn't have a usb c out port...just one of those funky cable that has a weird 2 part thingy on the end and then 2 usb A ends on the other end of the cable. I could look around for a usb a to usb c converter i guess and plug the c into my usb c port?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 3:04 amOh, you didn't say it was a Verbatim. Since it has a y-cable, you should ensure you have both USB-A plugs connected to high powered USB ports. Some laptops USB ports don't provide enough constant power or you may have a power saving setting turned on, perhaps? When using a laptop, it's best to use an AC self powered USB hub of at least 24w (preferably 30w+) for use with optical drives.uzless wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 8:29 pmsorry external slimline bluray writer. Re: Debug Error code - can't find usuable optical drive
I'm getting pop error notification now saying the computer doesn't recognize the device plugged into the usb port. I'm wondering if this is a driver issue but the verbatim uses generic plug and play drivers from what google says and when i update drivers from device manager it says i have the correct driver.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 9:07 pmSince it has a y-cable, you should ensure you have both USB-A plugs connected to high powered USB ports. Nah, won't be a driver issue. Try rebooting. Could be a dodgy cable or the USB ports themselves. Can you try the drive on another PC?uzless wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 9:45 pmI'm getting pop error notification now saying the computer doesn't recognize the device plugged into the usb port.
