Is there anyone who can help me with this.
What hardware still works with opti drive control. There seems to be other tools as well like Nero CD-DVD speed and Plextools or what the name was. Anyway there is a list on the opti site about hardware but it only has the CD, DVD hardware. I want to check BDR discs.
So I am looking for model, make of hardware that can do this error checking. That is the only thing I will use this drive for. I also assume I have to buy it second hand from someone who has it because I suspect there are no new ones in production.
Compatible drives with opti drive control etc ?

Do you have a full size LG drive with MT1959 chip?DennisOlof wrote: ↑Sat Jan 31, 2026 6:41 pmIs there anyone who can help me with this.

Re: Compatible drives with opti drive control etc ?
I had a closer look at the list under FAQ and checked my hardware. I have no hardware that will work with opti drive control.
Besides I would need a BluRay unit anyway, it is OK if I need to patch a unit to get one working. It is only for checking the discs. It might get hold of a Verbatim drive next week but if that is a Pioneer or LG I don't know.
So are you saying you need a 5.25 LG drive with MT1959 chip in order to use that software, no problem I have one DVR-219L and iHOS104 in one of the computers but I know they are old units, still works.
So the question is what LG drives are good for use with opti drive control, could be older hardware I have to buy form Ebay.

You would need a LiteOn BD drive for OptiDrive Control. Be aware that the program is buggy and is also limited to 50GB discs. With a full size 5,25" drive and based on a MT1959 chip you can flash LG WH16NS58 1.V5 firmware and do quality checks with the freeware qpxtools which also works with discs up to 128 GB.DennisOlof wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 2:55 pmI had a closer look at the list under FAQ and checked my hardware. Re: Compatible drives with opti drive control etc ?
@Coopervid aha, ok.
Yeah from what I understand a Vinpower device is just better firmware for duplication (replication) but the hardware was the same as in a regular drive. On Amazon I can see in the comments that someone wrote
Manufacture date: Nov. 2024
Manufacturer firmware: 1.V9
Sad that Vinpower does not have that firmware for download, anyone who got hold of a drive could update it to the Vinpower device for better quality burns. I have seen there is some drives left in USA but if they will ship to Europe is another story.
Anyway if I can flash any WH16NSXX device with that Vinpower firmware you are talking about that would be optimal, these drives are not that old and should last a long time even if the only thing I do is quality check disks. I could use it as burner if I wanted to, so if I can not get a Pioneer drive a Vinpower device would be the next best thing for quality burns right ?

Re: Compatible drives with opti drive control etc ?
No. No and no. You get a BH16NS40, NS55 or NS60 and flash it to WH16NS58 1.V5. 1.V9 from Vinpower doesn't work. And all LG drives including Vinpower's are lousy burners. Always use a Pioneer drive for burning.DennisOlof wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 6:10 pm@Coopervid aha, ok.

@Coopervid aha.
Ok, so I only use that device for reading or checking quality of the burn. I understand. Then I only have to get one of these drives, flash it and use it for quality checks.
