Verbatim HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N BOOT / SVC NS50

Post by tommy7600 »

Hi,
I found drive Verbatim HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N, however when I connect it to my PC I see that it's in BOOT mode with SCV code NS50.

I tried to update Firmware using official tools, but it didn't work. I tried to flash it using

Code: Select all

makemkvcon64 f -d K: -f sdf.bin rawflash enc -i DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin
but got:

Code: Select all

No drive tool logic found in SDF.bin

Internal error 0x8d000000

I have tried other FW, but no luck. I'm wondering if it's bricked or if I can somehow restore it?

When I tried SDFlashTool I got info that's it's not a MK platform.

I managed to restore it :)

1. Thanks again about all the great reading I could find here on the forum :)
2. I used:

Code: Select all

makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d Q: rawflash enc -t mtk19xx -i HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin
it flased the drive, but it was still on BOOT mode. However it restored SVC code to BU40N :)

3. Then I used official RE_BU40N 1.05 flasher. This time it works as SVC code was OK :) Drive restored to operating mode :)

4. I used SDFlashTool GUI 1.36 to flash HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934 and it worked :)
