Old drive died, so I got a new one, and flashed it. Here's the info:
Drive Information
OS device name: F:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BP50NB40
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: SIM2121990327
Firmware date: 2120-05-07 09:17
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 82
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
No disc inserted
My problem is that it says no disc is inserted, but there is. I've tried a couple of different ones, and it seems to not see UHD discs at all, but 1080p blurays it will see just fine. What am I doing wrong?

Re: BP50NB40
BP50NB40 firmware is not UHD compatible. You need to cross-flash it to a UHD model. You can use the recover mode in SDFtool Flasher. Go to the SDFtool Flasher thread and follow the instructions & gif in the first post. You've already done the first step.b_m_hart wrote: ↑Tue Nov 18, 2025 4:53 amOld drive died, so I got a new one, and flashed it. Here's the info:

Re: BP50NB40
I followed the steps to do the second part, but it doesn't change anything. I must have done it incorrectly, but I can't tell how, as I followed the steps and repeated everything in the gif.
I tried to attach an image of the flasher tool but apparently the board can't accept any more attachments.

Re: BP50NB40
Often people mess this up. As you are doing it, read the header text of the popup window and the firmware selection window. ensure you choose the firmware that's currently on the drive in the popup window and the firmware you want to end up with in the firmware selection drop down.b_m_hart wrote: ↑Tue Nov 18, 2025 7:26 amI followed the steps to do the second part, but it doesn't change anything. Re: BP50NB40
Yeah, I do that. I pick the drive, then the 1.03 firmware that it is on, then I pick the 1.00 to write. It successfully writes, and I startup MakeMKV and nothing has changed.
Re: BP50NB40
No. It's a 2 step process. First do a normal flash to BP50NB40 1.03. It will flash the MK firmware and enables Libredrive. After that successful flash to BP50NB40 1.03 then there is the second step to use the RECOVERY method. Select BP50NB40 1.03 in the upper box of the flasher and BU40N 1.00 in the lower box and flash again.
Re: BP50NB40
So?
You should always reset the drive after a flash process. Disconnect USB and power. Reconnect. Check Makemkv info if the drive is Libredrive enabled after flashing MK firmware. Then start the recovery process. Disconnect USB and power. Reconnect. Check Makemkv info.
You seem to be in a hurry but that really makes it more difficult compared to do it step by step and check the results.
Re: BP50NB40
That was "in a hurry" to be respectful of the MartyMcNuts' time. I didn't blow through it all like that when I did it. Either way, the end result is the same. I have tried it resetting the drive each time like you've said, and I'm still in the same place.
Re: BP50NB40
Post the Makemkv result after each step. These drives are the most complicated to flash.
Re: BP50NB40
The information I posted above does not change after any of the steps. The only difference is there is no longer a line item that says "Highest AACS version: 82" after bus encryhption flags.
