Yep, can easily be flashed. BU40N 1.03-MK is what you want.starwyvern wrote: ↑Wed Nov 05, 2025 9:59 pmHello,

You should fix the SDF download failing issue. Check/change your DNS and/or use a VPN. Also ensure internet access is given to MakeMKV in preferences.
Cheers

Re: Verbatim Drive
Thanks Marty,
Is there somewhere I can download a specific SDF for that drive? Never had that issue until this drive.
Not sure what's different, I'm using T-Mo Home Internet.
Also, for more clarification, I haven't set the drive region within Windows yet either. I am not sure if I even need to. Thoughts on that as well?

Re: Verbatim Drive
You can manually download SDF and put it in the MakeMKV data directory. The download link is in the first post of the Ultimate UHD Drive Guide 2025.starwyvern wrote: ↑Thu Nov 06, 2025 8:54 pmThanks Marty,

No need to set the drive region. I have never done this with any of my drives before. MakeMV doesn't care about regions. I've ripped all of my blu-ray discs purchased from many regions all around the world without issue. FYI, UHD discs are region free.

Re: Verbatim Drive
Thanks Marty, after this update I'll be able to rip UHD discs correct?
I just want a drive that could do everything. (CD, DVD, Blu-ray, BR DL and UHD)
Is there a way to just get the program ready made for me, that has the firmware ready to flash with a button click? Don't have a ton of time to put towards it is all.
Which link for the SDF file for my drive as well? That first post is a little confusing on first read.

Re: Verbatim Drive
For a ready made flasher, see my signature or contact Billycar11. SDF is not for a specific drive, it is for MakeMKV. With regards to LG drives, there's no need to update SDF (this only affected Pioneer drives) manually anyway. Just flash the drive and start ripping!starwyvern wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 2:07 pmThanks Marty, after this update I'll be able to rip UHD discs correct?

Re: Verbatim Drive
Hello Marty,
I believe mine is LG firmware. It is actually a Verbatim Branded drive though like you have on your website, it's that exact one (the second one listed).
Once firmware 1.03MK is flashed, does it enable LibreDrive? Is that all I need in order to get it working correctly?
Thanks again!

Re: Verbatim Drive
Marty,
Hopefully the last post. I just want to give an update, I read the firmware with your SDF Tool and then put in the SDF File from the All you need firmware pack into the data directory.
HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin
This was in the All you need firmware pack under the BU40N folder.
Hopefully that takes care of everything now!
Thank you so much for your patience and help!

Re: Verbatim Drive
You are confused. That SDF download error has absolutely nothing to do with the drive's firmware! To fix that, you can download sdf.bin from here: https://www.makemkv.com/svq/sdf.bin. Put this file in the MakeMKV data directory and when you start MakeMKV next it will be absorbed in to _private_data.tar.starwyvern wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:53 amMarty,
