Hello,
I have one of these, but the firmware is post-patch. I am aware of the recent news regarding pioneer drives though.
I was just wondering, when the new fix rolls out and 4k UHD support is restored to post-patch Pioneer drives, will this model be one of the supported drives?
I bought it intentionally while they were still readily available for MSRP, knowing the firmware was post-patch, because I know a fix will come eventually, and I would rather get it while they are still available.
TL;DR Will this drive with post-patch firmware work with the upcoming fix for pioneer drives, whenever it releases?
Much appreciated! :-)

Mike has said that the newer Pioneer drives will be libredrive supported but that does not mean UHD supported. I'm not sure if there will be any flashing required or if libredrive will just be enabled, so, if it's the latter, unless your drive is an actual UHD model (XS07UHD) then it more than likely won't support UHD discs.

The XS07S would need to be cross-flashed to enable UHD support and we just don't know at this stage if firmware flashing will be enabled or not with the newer, post 11/2022 firmware.
Cheers :D

Thank you for explaining this with such clarity. This is vital information to know. I will keep my XS07 for now and look for a UHD enabled drive in the meantime.

With that being said, do you think firmware cross-flashing might be possible at a later stage somewhere down the line? I have no problem waiting, as long as there is a possibility that it can be done at some point.

Cheers!

Honestly, nobody can say. We all just have to wait and see what method Mike ends up using.

This seemed to work.
I have two identical drives. One works perfectly now. The second drive does find a UHD disc, but MakeMKV fails to open it.
Did I mess something up? Or should to share the current drive information for the one that's stuck?
Thanks again.
Edit: I found another USB port and they both work. Thanks!
