Greetings people. This is my first post on the forum however and I apologize in advance if I did something wrong. I am seeking assistance.I bought a Verbatim 43888 from amazon germany and it arrived.unboxed it plugged it in and makemkv detected it no problem. I did a test rip with a blue-ray I had and it ripped it no problem out of the box. I decided to then flash the firmware so I can unlock the 4k ripping since I have a few UHDS I want to rip primarily my LOTR and Hobbit collection. I downloaded the flasher using the guide. then the all u need firmware files.
I opened the flasher selected my drive. then selected the bu40n bin file since that's the drive i have. everything went smoothly by the looks of it it finished without errors or anything. However after restarting make mkv the app still says "possible not yet enabled. This leads me to believe I've missed something or potentially flashed the wrong firmware. the drive still opens and even reads disks without issues so I'm clueless as to why its still saying not yet enabled. in the all u need folder there was only one firmware that said bu40n so I assumed that this was the correct one I'm meant to use. I am extremely new to this so if I have missed something on the guide it would be of extreme help.

Your 43888 should come with firmware v1.05. You must flash it to BU40N 1.03-MK first to remove any firmware encryption. If you want to use BU40N 1.00, now you will be able to flash it.Woodskov wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 10:50 amGreetings people. Thanks for the reply <3
Update: It successfully flashed the second time I tried with the corresponding MK file. I'm happy it didn't brick the first time. It was a success and I tested it with my 4k copy of LOTR and it worked perfectly without any issues ripped the theatrical version in about 50-ish minutes or so.
