Is there another way besides the $25 auto flash kit to accomplish this?

The pioneer flasher is not public yet and I'm once of the authorized testers for itlalalaurel wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 3:49 pmIs there another way besides the $25 auto flash kit to accomplish this?

Thank you for what you sent! I'm too new to PM you back, but is there a reason why the flasher isn't recognizing my drive? I'm using a Unitek SATA to USB adapter which works well for ripping, and the SDFtool flasher recognizes the drive, if that means anything.Coopervid wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 9:36 amPM sent.usmma2014 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 29, 2025 9:00 pm@Coopervid are you able to tell me if I can get this 209M working for UHD? These flashers work very differently. Either connect it directly to SATA with a computer from a friend or get this USB->SATA adapter which was tested to work.usmma2014 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 1:42 amThank you for what you sent! Im sure,
ive seen this many times, but no solution howto crossflash this drive for UHD use. Can you give me a hint where to find the firmware files and how to crossflash it for UHD-usability? I want to burn in linux, if possible. Thats much more convenient on command line
.
My drive is:

Re: Pioneer bdr 209 and Pioneer bdr 209m
I just got that SATA adapter today to try (thanks for the link!), but unfortunately it still isn't working with BDRFlash. It's the only desktop I have, and it's an HP mini so it has a small ribbon cable SATA connector inside with my OS drive connected to it. I'm not certain that the ribbon cable is supposed to support the current of a 5.25" optical drive, so I may still need auxiliary power in addition to an extended SATA cable for the data. That's after I move my OS to an M.2 NVME drive. I was really hoping I could make use of one of the many USB ports on this thing.Coopervid wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 8:50 amThese flashers work very differently. Is there any reason--based on the generated MakeMKV info--a direct SATA connection still might not work with this drive and flasher? Just before I go through all of that.
Re: Pioneer bdr 209 and Pioneer bdr 209m
You should have ordered the adapter with the power supply just like in the link. If you have an external WD hard drive you can use its power supply.
