It doesn't like the same disk the BDR-UD03 has no issues with:

But its exactly the same drive I send the info for yesterday. I've read the Verbatim 43889 comes in 2 flavours, with Pioneer and LG drives.. Can this be the issue? Am I getting crazy?

That is a different drive to the first one you posted. The serial numbers are different. One is a Pioneer, the other a LG.
Cheers :D

Its physically the same drive, certainly not trying to mess with you. First time I connected I copied info and it showed as Pioneer BDR-UD04. (this was right after disconnecting a Pioneer UD03). A day later the drive showed as an LG. Somehow the recognition was either tricked or interpretation changed. The only thing that happened was a reboot of my PC. I was under the impression I bought a Pioneer drive, but instead got the LG version. Little bit of google also explained if "Super Multibit" and "Blu Ray Disk" logos are at the front of the Verbatim 43889, you received the LG. Pioneer front is blank. Is this drive still any good? Can I flash this to DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK?

Yes the LG Verbatim can / must be flashed BU40 1.03 MK. If you want to make your Pioneer UD03 UHD capable please post its Makemkv info.

Weird story btw.
