@Mile
If you can find it useful here it's the 1.03 firmware dump made by MKV of a Pioneer BDR-XS08 .......... i think it's the rarest Pioneer drive
https://limewire.com/d/np2VC#3SgwZ7OlRO
Hope it will be fully supported!
Thank you so much

Re: All Pioneer drives will be LibreDrive supported
thanks for the software, mike. without makemkv, i would never buy any blu-ray movie disc because of the nazi-like copy protection...
so the movie studios should thank you instead for boosting their blu-ray movie sales!!
so i wanna ask, does this also include adding uhd support to all pioneer drives that are bdxl capable but were pre-uhd? i'm asking since you need to flash the drive with custom firmware anyway using sdftool and adding 4k uhd blu-ray support to a bdxl capable but pre-uhd drive also requires a custom firmware flash, so might as well just kill 2 birds with 1 stone...

I'm so happy right now! I thought I'd missed my chance noticing all the EOL and Out-of-Stock notices on the pre-flashed vendors' websites, then I get to makemkv.com and see my S12UHT might be usable yet.
Well done you legends! For a while there I was worried that the Pioneers wouldn't be cracked.

thanks for the heads up and this useful post. this is very useful information on what pioneer drives to look out for hoarding since they will no longer be made.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 11:22 pm208 and newer for desktop will do UHD and

shame on pioneer for that ultra-nazi 2023 encrypted firmware scandal! serves them right for being driven out of business in the optical drive sector. money talks and the rest walk indeed...

I don't know if there even is such a thing as a UHD-BDROM drive. It would probably not be worth making for the cost.CalicoSkies wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 9:47 pmIf you're only concerned about ripping though, you wouldn't need a burner, just one that can read discs..?

I guess that's true.. I assumed there were such drives, but I guess it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for those to exist.MrEJ42 wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 10:16 pmI don't know if there even is such a thing as a UHD-BDROM drive. Re: All Pioneer drives will be LibreDrive supported
Finally bit the bullet and bought an XS07S off Amazon for $130. I can see the prices going up quickly as more people find out about this, so better now than later.
Wouldn't it be a treat if the drive arrived with pre-2022 FW? Extremely unlikely but a man can dream! Otherwise I am going to patiently wait for the announcement that 2022+ drives work.
To the legends making this possible, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I see I am a little late to the party! This is great news! I am glad I kept my Pioneer that had unflashable firmware as a spare!

Re: All Pioneer drives will be LibreDrive supported
I'm so glad I will finally be able to use my Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD drive to rip my 4K collection. I picked it up last year before I read about it needing specific firmware to run properly.
