Re: SDFtool Flasher
No, the firmware has nothing to do with the region coding. MakeMKV should take care of that when ripping anyway.XTRProf wrote: ↑Fri May 16, 2025 7:04 amSorry for this noob question. Does the firmware 1.03 MK or in fact any jail broken firmwares make the drive now region free at least for DVDs. I know blurays and UHD blurays lately no such constraint on the number of region changes that can be made limited to 5 before the drive being locked into the last done region.
Thanks for any clarification.

Ha, didn't know. Everything in order now, sir! Now I have 2 fully jail broken Verbatim 43888 at 1.03 MK firmware version.
Thanks very much. Salute!

Hello, I just got my Archgon MD-8107S-U3-UHD, it was version 1.01, used the GUI to take it 1.03MK, then tested a disc.
No disc. Tried flashing to 1.00, no disc then too. Am I doing something wrong?-

Re: SDFtool Flasher
Allow the OS to initialize the disc before opening MakeMKV.
Ensure MakeMKV has internet access as this is needed to download the UHD hashed keys.
Clean the disc with a microfiber cloth.

What disc set it it? If it's GoT or LotR, these are well known as notoriously bad quality disc pressings.seatopian wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 11:40 pmDone all three, even tried another disc from the same set.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 10:54 pmAllow the OS to initialize the disc before opening MakeMKV.

Can you see the disc in windows explorer?
Does a normal BD disc work?

German 4K of RoboCop.
Can't see the disc in explorer either. Normal BDs (even from the same set) work

If BD's work, then the laser is fine. You may need to wash the UHD disc with soapy water and dry with a microfiber cloth. I'd then let it finish air drying overnight before testing it again. It's possible the disc may be faulty. Try another UHD disc.
Also, it sounds silly but sometimes a drive just doesn't like a particular disc. It happens... This is one of the reasons why most of us have multiple drives.

Gotcha. For what it's worth, I also just now tried my US 4K of Alien and it's not reading either. Will try to clean all three tomorrow! Thanks for the help.
EDIT: a little bit after i posted this, i decided to double check and now it's stalling out on regular BD discs. think i got a faulty drive.

Yeah, possibly. Maybe return it and get something else...seatopian wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 6:06 amGotcha. For what it's worth, I also just now tried my US 4K of Alien and it's not reading either. Will try to clean all three tomorrow! Thanks for the help.
