LG Drive Dead?

Post by davgphi »

I have an LG BP60NB10 that I've been using reliably for about a year now. Not sure what happened, but recently it's stopped reading any Blu-Ray/UHD disc. Whenever I put the disc in, it simply spins and makes a screeching sound like it's trying to read it but having trouble. I've tried it on different USB ports, a different computer, even re-flashed it to no avail.

It does still read CDs and DVDs, which leads me to believe that it may be an issue with the blue laser (not sure what that means entirely but saw someone in another thread say that!). I'm hoping that's not the case and that the local experts might have some other suggestions for troubleshooting?

Yeah, blue laser coud be dirty or dead. You could try cleaning the laser with perhaps a q-tip and alcohol?
Cheers :D

That did the trick! Didn't even have to take it apart, apparently the lasers are right in the tray. Can't believe it was such a simple solution-- thank you!
