PIONEER Blu-ray Drive BDR-S13UBK

Post by t3t4- »

I just got this thing, it doesn't work for anything copy wise. Didn't know before I bought it, now I do. Simple question real quick: Should I send it back and get my money back, or is there a firmware available to fix it?

I have a MFD date 4/2023
Firmware 1.04

Is there a fix for this drive currently?

Thanks in advance.

Okay, not being a dic k here, but if you can flash it then why can't I with a fixed firmware? I already have the drive, I just need the 0's and 1's to make it work.

And to also, what is your price for this drive in fully functional form able to read and copy any optical media currently available?

Pioneer drives with newer firmware (December 2022 or newer) cannot currently be flashed.
Cheers :D

Well that's a real serious shame. This should be the Cadillac of all drives. But it's worthless in it's current form.

Yep, hopefully we'll be able to flash'em in the next few months....

Hello,

Does the BDR-S13EBK work correctly for reading and decrypting a UHD disc with Make MKV ?

What is the difference between S13EBK and S13UBK ?

Thanks for you answers... ;)

I'm guessing since there's been no update on this thread in a year and a half, that there's no progress on this drive?

Apparently I just purchased a $250 brick. Which I will own up to - there is information on this forum warning of the 2023 FW however so many threads are full of rolling updates and dozens and dozens of pages of things spread out, it is difficult to discern what is the most accurate, up-to-date information.

Case in point: The text in MakeMKV states Possible, not yet enabled. "Possible". This is obviously not accurate. It would be nice if the next update of MakeMKV would accurately report the status for Pioneer drives with the new problematic FW.

Now unless someone has good news for me, it seems I get to figure out how to return this to Amazon.

Well, as far as we know it is still being worked on (2+ years now!) so, I guess it's still possible that it may be enabled one day (I wouldn't hold my breath though!). If Mike ever decides it can't be done or isn't worth the hassle then he may change that statement.
Cheers :D
