I am following the guide to the letter, googled and found several things to try, etc. but no matter what I do differently I always end up with the same error:
Input file not found -- /tmp/HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin

Is there a recommended enclosure? As a side note, do any of the following drives allow for ripping of 4K UHD discs?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 3:01 amUse an enclosure or SATA to USB powered adapter to use the internal desktop drives externally.havok2022 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 1:49 amLooking for a new drive that can ideally rip 4K UHD BRDs, and I need an external option ideally with USB and possibly eSATA as well. USB is a bit of a must though. I'm located in the US. It didn't seem like any of the inventory in the original post were external.
Pioneer BDR-X13UBK
OWC Mercury Pro x16 Blu-ray
Buffalo BRXL-16U3
I'm trying to get something dual purpose so I can do disc-to-digital with my Kaleidescape and those are the three tested and confirmed drives.

I'm looking for what models can be used in 2025. I don't really care about brand. I live in America.

Great news! With this external drive I copied three UHD movies to my hard disk. One title: GLADIATOR 2000.

Re: Trouble Flashing New Drive on Linux
Thank you for the reply - I was able to get past that error, but now whenever I run the command my Terminal just freezes up - i end up at a cursor ... doesn't flash, just sits there. No matter how long I let it sit, nothing happens until I ctrl-C to get a prompt.Billycar11 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 7:32 pmMake temp match where you put those filescdbruce1973 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 3:52 pmI am on Ubuntu 24.04, just installed a BU40N ultra slim internal drive.

Don't exists.
You need a directly support from Billycar11 or CooperVid.
Post your MakeMKV drive information, ask gently for support and wait for a reaction.

Okay, my mistake
to copy blu-ray movies, so I won't provide instructions.
Besides, I was afraid that I would damage the drive.
BTW. I don't know if I can give the name of the tool, I'll just write: UHD Drive Tool.
If this tool works, then very good.

Sorry, your post isn't 100% clear, but are you saying that you have found/written a tool that can flash the Pioneer drives?chris996 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 6:58 pmOkay, my mistakeSeriously, I didn't need to flash my external Pioneer drive
