Sorry, finally got it to work, many thanks!
I'm having a similar issue. Can you let me know what you did to fix the Drive and firmware hardware types don't match error? https://imgur.com/a/47Rg7gA

Thanks.

I have had a Pioneer BDR-UD03FAL sitting around, I managed to get a case for it. It looks like I need to cross flash it (to a UD04?) in order for it to read Blu-Rays?

See attached MakeMKV output, and I have a PC to do any required flashing.

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr2
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-UD03
Revision: 1.03
Serial number:
Firmware date: 2015-05-14
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 81

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: RS8510
Firmware name: PIONEER BDR-US03
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.03/ID19
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

Yes. I've just double and triple-checked and there's no disc in the drive and the tray is closed. Using Windows 11 as the OS and plugged both USB ports into 3.0 ports if that helps.

Generally asked:

Are there any differences between

- BDR-UD03
- BDR-UD03B
- BDR-UD03TBD

?

Are the B and TBD flashable to BDR-UD04 like the BDR-UD03 when the firmware is older then 12/2022?
MakeMKV information not available, but perhaps there are any empirical values?

I could get one of them for a friend who has an empty enclosure since his BU40N is gone.

Not really. The only thing seems to be the firmware version should be 8510 or 8511. It looks like 8591 (see above) is not flashable. Maybe the author forgot to add this or nobody has it tried before so 8591 is excluded.

Many thanks. I appreciate your help. I've responded (I think). The quote icon is to reply? Anyway, I'd like to try it.
