Hi,
it's almost impossible to find a Pioneer Drive here in Europe, they are nowhere to be found. After looking a bit into it i thought having a high qualitiy drive like the BDR-S13E-X would be nice, but the only thing that's possible for me is getting the JP versions from Ebay. Afaik they have a different Regioncode.
I never tried ripping Blurays and wanted to get into it now, so is that a problem for MKV or not? Also what about the firmware with Pioneers, i read about a year old entrys about mkv having problem with newer versions, is that still a thing?
Alternatively i can try to get a Verbatim 43888, but idk if a slim drive is good enough to last a long time
Bdr-s13j-x from ebay usable as a european

if your going for UHD the JX with fw 12/22 and later will not work for UHD
it will work for regular BD and DVD
the 43888 now seems to mostly have a BU40N

I do have some new BDR-S13J-X's available with old firmware. I have occasionally shipped to Europe. I don't ship to UK, Ireland or Scotland though. See my signature.Lith-io wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 10:40 pmHi,

Region code doesn't matter when ripping.
Cheers
