Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
Try flashing to BW-16D1H-U A204, which you can find in the MK Firmware Pack in the first post here ... viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634
The Flasher 1.3.5 you can find there also.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
As @zittrig said, use Marty McNuts SDFtool Flasher viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896 . Marty's "All You Need Firmware Pack" is found on the same page is smaller and simpler (maybe shorten the folder name to "AYNFP". Choose "DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.10_MK.bin" for your drive.tekmo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 6:29 pmHi I purchased said drive (BW-16D1X-U) and wondering if it can be flashed for UHD.

I already have a good number of digitized titles and I had almost no problems until I reached a couple of discs from the Game of Thrones series, with which I tried several of the tips given in this forum regarding cleaning the discs without a positive result. As a consequence, I decided to buy another reader that I saw on Amazon at a good price, the one mentioned in the post, although this one needs to be modified to read UHD discs. I would appreciate any advice on this, thank you and best regards.
Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
@Coopervid, would you mind pm'ing me with the necessary additional details to flash? I have the SDFtool flasher (v1.3.5), the ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified) (24.08.2019), and the following firmware which I could flash (ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014.bin). As you're aware, the SDFtool flasher doesn't work, as it's not the MT1959 platform.
Should I utilize the ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer? Wanted to make sure I didn't update it to one of the latest firmware's, and then not be able to go back.
Really would appreciate your insight. Cheers

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
I apologize for the extremely noobie question but is there some special trick to actually find and download the firmware? I just got the ASUS everyone seems to like and have the loader to keep it simple but it points to my system looking for the firmware to use.
Thanks for the leg up

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
Sorry but not sure what you mean by MakeMkv info... If the question is firmware version for the ASUS it is 3.10 I think.
Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
He means the data about your drive from the first screen of MakeMKV. The information on the right side of the screen. Two sections, 'Drive Information' and 'LibreDrive Information'.

This is a LG drive. I guess a full size 5,25" drive in an enclosure. If so, flash LG WH16NS60 1.02.PCGold wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2025 6:53 pmDrive Information

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U - Flashable?
Thanks a ton. Looks like it was already live and could have found this but did not. Sorry about that... I ran searches and likely was just buried in more info that I am only beginning to grasp. As an IT person we cannot know all so love the help from the experts with experience.
I look forward to setting up my Plex server with ripped data... Wife will be shocked at all this...quite easy really
