Power cycling the OWC Mecury Pro enclosure

Post by kaister »

Not sure if this is the right section to ask this question.

Is it common to need to power cycling the OWC Mercury Pro enclosure after disc fail to rip?

Often when a disc fail, I'll need to restart the drive meaning powering off the enclosure and then power it back in order for my Mac to recognize the drive again. I tried this on both the WH16NS40 and the BDR-212V. I was thrown off initially but just did it anyways. I just want to make sure whether I'm experiencing some kind of issue with my enclosure. I've ordered another one to test out.

I have both an LG and an ASUS drive in the OWC enclosure. Both of those drives will often, after a failed rip, need to be power cycled. My Pioneer drives are in Vantec cases and they're less likely to need to be power cycled but still do occasionally.

I have always assumed it had more to do with the drive than the enclosure.
