My drive was great, but unfortunately after over 400 rips it has died, I can hear it chugging, but makemkv is saying 'no disc'.
I need to be able to rip 4k, and blurays/dvds from any region.
Where can I just buy a ready flashed external drive with a warranty?
Re: Where can I just buy a ready flashed external drive with a warranty?
Country of residence and preference for full size or slim drive requested.
Re: Where can I just buy a ready flashed external drive with a warranty?
UK, and no preference on size.

Thanks, I’ve been looking at that and have a few concerns:
1. It appears to rely on usb power, I’ll be connecting it to a laptop, will it get enough power to work reliably? I had a slimline originally and it would drop out when running from my desktop PCs USB port.
2. Is it multi region ? No mention in the reviews on this, but lots of mentions of it working with makemkv
3. I’ve seen other threads saying the amazon seller is sending different versions of this, some that have the new firmware and so no good.

1) The verbatim is power hungry and works best when connected to USB-C or a powered hub.hamlet101 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 2:24 pmThanks, I’ve been looking at that and have a few concerns:

2) Since it is lbredrive enabled, regions are not an issue.
3) In Asia and Australia this drive is also sold recently containing a LG BU40N. If so just send it back to Amazon.

Re: Where can I just buy a ready flashed external drive with a warranty?
Thank you very much for this. Arrived from Amazon today and happily ripping my first UHD disc.
Re: Where can I just buy a ready flashed external drive with a warranty?
Got the verbatim from amazon yesterday and it works perfectly, rips 4k and different region bluray. Many thanks!
Btw, it came with a cd of supporting software drivers and nero - i assume that I shouldn't touch these with a barge pole, might add region and drm checks to the drive?

Re: Where can I just buy a ready flashed external drive with a warranty?
The general rule of thumb is once a drive's firmware gets to where it works with LibreDrive and supports ripping 4K UHDs, then leave it alone. A lot of heartbreak can come from updating firmware without understanding the implications.hamlet101 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 11:34 amGot the verbatim from amazon yesterday and it works perfectly, rips 4k and different region bluray.
