Hello all, first post. Couldn't find anything here on my issue, so here goes.
Buffalo BRUHD-PU3-BK drive purchased 06/12/2024 off Amazon (It's a Japanese drive, as it turns out.)
O/S is Ubuntu, latest release, latest patches.
MakeMKV version 1.17.8
Now for my issue. Ubuntu and MakeMKV recognize the drive correctly, but the OS will not mount a disc of any type. MakeMKV will not access the drive. The neighbor also uses MakeMKV. I borrowed his external drive, and my system bricked it as well. (an HP external drive of some age.) His Windows system has the same issues with both drives. The drives are recognized correctly, but no disks are mounted or can be read. His examination of the drives tells him that a SCSI "shim" has been downloaded to both drives, and has caused them to not be able to communicate. This is above my pay-grade.
Any ideas on what is going on, what to do to fix this, and how to prevent this from happening in the future would be great.
Thanks!
