When you choose RECOVER, the tool will first ask for the current firmware file... choose BP50NB40 1.03-MK. Then you click the dropdown and choose the firmware you actually want to flash, BU40N 1.00 and start the flash. Don't click on WRITE.

Whoops my mistake... so there were two different prompts. I thought the first one didn't work Now I feel silly for that hahaha

I used the read function to confirm current firmware and the filename contained the following: WH14NS40_1.05_212005061444

I assume that means that my current firmware is encrypted so I check the appropriate setting in the GUI.

I select the 1.02 firmware for my drive and initiate the write function.

I receive the following error: "Command produced error code 0x82052603"

Any ideas?

You don't select anything with regards to the firmware encryption. SDFtool flasher automatically sets the encrypted flag if the drive has encrypted firmware.

Yes, your 1.05 is encrypted so in SDFtool flasher you should see 2 green , one for drive platform and the other for encrypted firmware.

Also ensure there's no disc in the drive and the tray is closed.

When you say 1.02, are you talking about the recommended WH16NS60 1.02 or the WH14NS40 1.02?? You should flash the former first to remove the firmware encryption. If you want to flash another firmware version afterwards, then you can.

If you use MakeMKV for your ripping keep it on WH16NS60 firmware as it reads faster and removes the sleep bug. There's only disadvantages if you flash to the WH14NS40 firmware.

The instructions in the UHD guide thread say this. Just to make it easier, I have added this note to the first post of this thread.

fw your trying to flash

for lg and asus drives you really should not need assistance its all outlined in the guide see below flashing lg/asus drives has not changed since late 2020 ish

I am trying to flash the firmware using SDFtool Flasher to replace the current firmware version (1.05) on this drive to a new "DE_LG_WH16NS40-NS50_1.02.bin" that I downloaded from this website in the Zipped folder "All You Need Firmware Pack (MartyMcNuts)". 9-10-2024: Latest update regarding my drive.
I want to give you an update of the progress. After many failed attempt, so I almost gave up and thinking of returning this drive. However, after playing a movie the next day, and I tried to flash again. This time it went through and I was able to rip a few Bluray DVD now. However, I couldn't rip Mission Impossible - Fallout. So, I search this site and found some conversation about lower my MakeMKV to version 1.14.1 from 1.17.7. It gave me a warning that this version is too old to run. Then, I reinstalled the version 1.17.7 but this time it didn't run since it said it too old a version. I guess I have to purchase this license even though I only have it ran for like 12 days max. Can anyone advise if this is the case. Thank you.

Welp... I got a new drive to test out and by this point I had forgotten about the warnings of "do not flash desktop drive firmware to a slim drive".

For some reason I thought this flasher was supposed to prevent such silly mistakes.

I am not sure what i am doing wrong with 1 of my drives. I have multiple (HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH14NS40). All of the unencrypted flashed.

The 1 encrypted drive I have is Ver 1.05. (W: HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH14NS40_1.05_212005061444) and giving me the error of 0xc0000185 when trying to flash with ver. DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.02_MK.bin.

Am i missing something in these posts?
