I just got my Verbatim 43888 yesterday and it got recognized by my Mac running Sonoma and the latest MakeMKV. Popped in the first Blu-Ray and it choked. Unplugged and re-attached = no booting. I can see it in my USB Device Tree, but it looks dead. I have been searching high and low on how to wake it up, but no luck so far. Anybody much better than me knowing a fix to this?

Re: Verbatim Ultra HD 4K (43888) - available but not starting
Hi there,
nearly same problem with my Verbatim 43888 plugged in at new MacBook Air M2 2023, started Makemkv, opening a DVD, got stuck while opening for minutes. Plugged out the drive after not responding. Thereafter the drive is not responding anymore when plugged to a MacBook Air or Pro, Lenovo or Dell Notebook. The drive is dead.
Any suggestions?
Thanx!
