BP60NB10 giving me very slow rip speed. 2x, 0.8x

Hey, all! I went ahead and bought a BP60NB10, flashed it with

HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP60NB10-1.02-NM00800-212005070935.bin

and started my first rip. It would only rip up to a maximum of 2.3x. I never saw it go any higher than that. I tried another disc and it read one stream at 2x and the next stream it started reading at only 0.8x...

I'm not really too sure what to do here... I tried restarting my computer, plugging the drive back in, tried different ports.... And yes I am using the Y cable that it comes with plugged into 2 ports for power and data. I did save the firmware from the drive before I flashed it.

Did you try cleaning the discs? Do that before trying to rip again.

Thanks for the reply. I think it may have something to do with the discs themselves. I bought 2 blurays today, tried those two, and those were the two I made complaints about in this post. I then found out we had some other blurays already (I thought these were the only blurays we had, i am starting my bluray journey now!) and tried one of them and the rip starts off slower, but speeds up as it continues, peaking at nearly 6x. I will try those other discs after cleaning them after I am done with this rip.

Would you say this is all normal behaviour? Coincidentally, the two other discs I tried to rip that I complained about were both discs from season sets of a TV show. Are reading those more difficult?

I also ordered a new drive from Amazon, thinking my drive could be bad... I will flash that one when it gets here to compare.

I wanted to also say, it took 21 minutes total for the rip to reach the 6x speed I mentioned. It is nearly the whole length of the rip for it to reach that speed. Is that normal? Not complaining, I am fine with this speed, just making sure it is indeed expected behavior.

It will depend on various factors like disc quality and file sizes, but your experience isn't unusual.

I have an LG BP50NB40 which should perform similarly to a BP60NB10. With several bluray (regular and 4K) discs I've tried, some can reach 6x within 2 minutes of starting a rip, while others take a whole 20 minutes to peak at 6x like yours. Either way, my drive's speed usually hangs around 4-5x for most of the rip.

Purely anecdotal from my end, so make what you will with this info.
