Hey everyone,

I recently bought a slim external BU40N. I was under the impression that all these drives can be flashed to rip UHDs, so I'm a little surprised by the problems I've run into. I'm running Windows 11. Here are the drive details from MakeMKV:

Drive Information
OS device name: G:
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: U100
Serial number: [redacted]
Firmware date: 2116-08-31 11:53
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 76

When using SDF tool Flasher I get the following error message : "The drive you have selected does not have the correct drive platform (MT1959) and cannot be flashed."

The drive seems to read UHD discs okay, the show up in Windows Explorer. Even copied an encrypted disc to a hard drive without issue.

Any advice on what I can do to make this drive work?

Here's what Powershell is giving me:

PS C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV> .\makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d G: rawflash -i C:\Users\k\Downloads\DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin
No drive tool logic found in SDF.bin
Internal error 0x8d000000

Also tried it with "enc"

While waiting for my previous posts to be approved, I solved the issue by adding the -t mtk991 command. Already made my first rip. Thanks for the help!

New here but eager to learn. I get the following error code when trying to flash the LG drive: Ox82052603
I'm using an LG BD-RE WH14NS40, firmware 1.05, drive platform MT1959, the SVC code on the drive is NS50. the drive enclosure is an OWC Mercury Pro professional USB 3.0 model OWCMR3UKIT
I used the SDFtool flasher v1.3.5 and firmware pack DE_LG_WH14NS40-N S50_1.02.bin. if it matters I'm using a newer laptop with a core I9 processor running windows 11. Thanks

Guide says:

WH14NS40 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK... NOT 'DE'

Just make sure it is WH16NS60 1.02-MK. Doesn't matter if also DE.
Cheers :D

LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.
Das Öffnen der Disk schlug fehl"

The UHD FAQ is also a good resource.

Good evening, I have a uj240as but it has version 1.02. I bought it recently since the internal drives are expensive and my lg has been in use for a long time.
but all the places I found have broken links

The UJ240AS is never going to do UHD, as it was discontinued years before UHD was a thing. You are limited to DVD and (regular) BD reading, no matter what software version you have.
