Thanks. It's a brand new drive and I'm using enc, but still get that error each time.Coopervid wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 11:00 amIf the drive has NOT been flashed before use "enc" (encrypted firmware). Could anyone advise what I'm doing wrong? I've upgraded a few of these drives successfully in the past, but not for a while.
Any advice much appreciated.

Re: SDFtool Flasher
Are you using a USB-> SATA adapter or an enclosure? The safest method is to connect directly to SATA of an dektop PC. Have you checked in Makemkv if the flash process was successful or does it still show that Libredrive is not enabled?
Re: SDFtool Flasher - no drive in dropdown
I have an LG WH16NS40 that I am trying to update the firmware on.
I downloaded the SDFtool Flasher.exe (ver 1.3.5).
The tool does not populate my drive in the dropdown list for "Please select a Drive".
If I put a DVD in the drive, it is showing up in explorer as E:
I am using Windows 11 home.
A couple of years ago when I first bought the drive, I gave up on flashing this drive because of this same error.
Can someone help me with this?
Thanks.

The drive is in an Archgon Enclosure, and I was hoping not to have to open if possible.

Re: SDFtool Flasher
Weird! Make sure you use an USB3 port so you have enough power to the drive.
Try to sidegrade to 1.02 MK first. If that works flash afterwards 1.03 w/o "enc".

Make sure there is no disc in the drive and that the flasher shows 2 green ticks, 1 for MT1959 platform and 1 for encrypted firmware. If the encrypted firmware shows a red X, click on it to toggle it to the green tick. You should be able to flash BU40N 1.03-MK firmware.kingston12 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 4:43 pmThe drive is in an Archgon Enclosure, and I was hoping not to have to open if possible.

Re: SDFtool Flasher
Hi, is the tool open source? I came across a few graphical bugs. Also, looking at the file size I'd guess you have .NET included so it can run without dependencies. Have you considered offering a version without it bundled so the file won't be so large?

What would be the purpose of making it smaller and dependent upon what is installed on a machine, if it's a single-use tool, like this one?Hi, is the tool open source? Unless you're a drive retailer, you are unlikely to be running this tool often enough to be concerned about its size.

It is an internal sata drive.
I do not have MakeMKV installed. I use Linux version for that.
I’ll install it on windows and try again Tuesday.
I’ll let you know how it works.
Thanks again.

Yes, you must have MakeMKV installed as the flasher is a frontend GUI for it....tbone56 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 2:18 amThank you for the response!MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 8:52 pm

Re: SDFtool Flasher
Thanks Marty. I think my issue was the UDB port I was using. The drive showed up in Windows, but I'd constantly get an error message when trying to flash it even though the two green ticks were there.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 8:50 pmMake sure there is no disc in the drive and that the flasher shows 2 green ticks, 1 for MT1959 platform and 1 for encrypted firmware. Once I'd changed to a front mounted USB port, it worked fine first time.
Re: SDFtool Flasher
Glad you figured it out. First thing is USB power like I told you.

I ran SDFtool Flasher (v1.3.5)
This time I did have my dive listed in the drop down box.
I selected my internal LG_WH16NS40 drive
Clicked the WRITE Firmware selection
Selected DE_LG_WH16NS40-NS50_1.02.bin file.
Clicked Start, after a few seconds, I received an error message "Command produced error code 0x82052603".
Thank you for getting me this far.
