Last year I bought a Pioneer XD07, which didn't support UHD discs, but at the time I didn't have any. Now I have a UHD Player and several discs for it, but the XD07 is blocked from reading the discs at a firmware level - it will just spin them forever and never present the disc to the operating system.
There's a newer XD08 which does support UHD and also has a USB-C connector with an included right angle cable, so I figured I would sell my old XD07 and put that cash towards the XD08. Is this a good idea? Can any UHD-capable drive be used with MakeMKV?
Worth upgrading from XD07 to XD08?
