Thanks for all of the work that has been put in on this.

I've got two BU40N drives that I flashed to 1.00 years ago using the original ASUS flasher.

Is there any advantage in moving them to the 1.03 firmware using the new method, or am I just as well sticking with what I've got if they are working fine?

No advantage whatsoever, only disadvantages.

Hi,

Looks like there are now 3 options for the BU40N. 1.0, 1.03 and 1.04

Which is preferred and why, please?

Can anyone point me to an explanation of MK versus DE versus HL formats?

I see a few bits at the top of this thread, curious to learn more.

Greetings! Newbie here, having just got a BP55EB40 from Amazon. I followed the instructions at the top of the thread (honest, I did!): flashed to BP50NB40 1.03-MK, then flashed to BP50NB40 1.03-MK, with boot ticked, then tried to crossflash via RECOVERY to BP60NB10 1.00-MK...

BUT...the only firmware in the MK-Firmware-Pack for BP60NB10 is 1.02MK.

I used this one, and it seemed to complete but at the end I got the error message with an error code of 0x8f062900.

MakeMKV seems to have updated the Info section to show that the flash has been completed successfully, but error codes with random hex numbers are never a good way to leave things, so I'm a bit worried :-)

It seems to be reading a 4K disc OK at the moment, but I've yet to actually rip it.

BP60NB10 1.00-MK is in the "old" folder of the MK firmware pack. Anyway, you should be good to go. If you are really worried about it, you could complete the last flash again (BP60NB10 1.02-MK or BP60NB10 1.00-MK) and see if the error appears again.
Cheers :D

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know the SDFtool Flasher has an update. The latest version is v1.3.2. Download link has been updated in the first post.

This latest update improves encrypted firmware detection. (I have not touched the encryption flag toggle ability, just in case it is needed for a particular drive.)
Cheers :D

Does the flasher need to be run in admin mode to work?

Not normally. If you are not admin on your PC, then probably.

Make sure there is no disc in the drive and the tray is closed.
Make sure you using the latest version of the SDFtool flasher, which does detect the Archgon 1.02 firmware as encrypted.
You can't flash 1.00 directly. Flash to 1.03-MK first, then flash to 1.00.

flawless victory!! Woooo I'm now watching the 1st 4k UHD blu-ray title I've ever purchased! Worked great, thanks again guys for all your help!
P.S. For this drive, should I stick w/ this firmware as-is, or is there another cross-type I should flash w/ (to get faster reads of UHDs?)
Thanks again!!
