Official UHD drives can only read UHD disks with official UHD-licensed software. Just owning the drive doesn't make it work, and the official software limits you on your CPU and graphics choices.

Will MakeMKV ever be compatible with the Pioneer BDR-S12UHT? I went and spent more money on a UHD drive instead of one of the UHD friendly ones thinking it would guarantee direct playback from the disc, and now I discover that I can't even rip movies.
I did give my firmware dump from this model to Mike back in Jan 2020.

Still waiting on any update regarding LibreDrive support.....
Cheers :D

Does he need firmware for a Pioneer BDR-212U? I would be happy to help the cause since I am one of those who naively thought they could buy a UHD drive and read UHD discs with it.
