Doubts about Intel processors compatibility with LGWH16NS60

Post by thiagosouza5501 »

Good morning, how are you?

I apologize if my questions are basic.

I bought an LG WH16NS60. Through the tutorials here on the forum I managed to downgrade to 1.0 firmware and I can normally rip my UHD disks through makemkv.

My questions are:

I plan to upgrade my PC, I currently have an FX-8350. I plan to switch to a 9th, 10th or 11th Gen Intel, I don't know which one yet, but it will be one of those.
When upgrading, will I be able to rip my UHD disk normally?
I ask this because I read that Intel has Intel® Software Guard Extensions (Intel® SGX), I was afraid that this might prevent me from ripping my UHD disks. And not just for the SGX, for any blockage that might be with the Intel processor.

And after I've downgraded my LGWH16NS60 firmware to 1.00 can I play my 1080 and UHD discs normally on Cyberlink PowerDVD? (Already with a 9th, 10th or 11th generation Intel processor)

Thank you very much

Ripping UHDs isn't processor-dependent. There are people ripping with ARM-based machines, including the new M1 Macs and Raspberry Pi boards.

Playback with "Certified UHD software", such as PowerDVD, is going to enforce the "certified UHD hardware" requirements. Other H.265-compliant software won't. Again, even ARM-based hardware plays UHD MKV files.

Part of the reason PowerDVD has certain hardware requirements is that that hardware will implement anti-playback DRM.

Thanks for the answer, Woodstock. I currently have an AMD FX-8350 processor, and I have to switch to an Intel. My question is: I have downgraded my LG WH16NS60 firmware to version 1.0 (following the forum tips), will it still be able to play 4K Ultra HD blu-rays? or for having downgraded, I can't? CyberLink may not play because I have downgraded the LG WH16NS60 firmware?

Yes we know the answer but it mostly depends on your gpu not CPU for unofficial playback you don't need the Intel sgx requirements
