If you have posted the drive info from MakeMKV post flashing, you have not flashed 1.02MK as the drive info is showing 1.03.

Same drive here. One of the experts here can correct me, but from I have read here and elsewhere, at least I have concluded that:

- If not using AnyDVD - WH16NS60 v1.02/v1.03 MK <- Why: prevents the sleep bug, good speeds.
- If using AnyDVD BH16NS55 v1.02/v1.03/v1.05 MK <- Why: same model firmware, works fine, and if you're using AnyDVD the sleep bug is worked around there.

I've flashed to WH16NS60 v1.03 - all works great! The ASUS one should work too, but you could have issues burning discs from what I have read.

Hi

I have the Asus BW 16D1HT and flashed it some time ago to 3.10 and i can see MKV recognising it as patched.

However for the last week or so it w ill just refuse to read any discs. last week i was able to copy Tenet in UHT and Solo a Sar Wars story - but i have tired 3 different UD disks recently Back to the future trilogy and a 1080p BluRay of Irishman but with no luck. Windows itself refuses to acknowledge the disc. The drive works and i can hear the disc spinning but it just does not register.

Has any one else seen this? I had failures before but this is 4 discs in a row!!!

Thanks

Here's is my drive info:

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: ASUS

Highest AACS version: 76

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 3.10
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
I have just experienced the exact same problem with my LG Drive that I used this forum to patch my drive : LG WH16NS40. I have been using this drive for the last 3 weeks and ripping everything from DVD to UHD 4K movies.. however, as time progressed the ability for MakeMKV to recognise a disc degraded over time. The first sign was that after a ripping session, that putting in the next disc to rip that MakeMKV reported "No disc Inserted" - then each day the ability to even recognise a disc degraded to the point where I now need to replace this drive.
MakeMKV is now reporting this drive as:
Drive Information
OS device name: F:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE WH16NS60
Revision: 1.02
Serial number: XXXXXXXXX
Firmware date: 2118-10-29 19:36
Bus encryption flags: 17

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.02
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

No disc inserted
Any attention or help in either rectifying this issue with this existing drive - or an explanation of a possible reason for why it happened would be nice.. :) Thanks Guys!!

If the drive is still covered by warranty - return it.

yes sir.. I believe that it was the best course of action.. bought at Amazon 3 weeks ago - the return was accepted with a new unit coming in exchange. I wonder if I wore out the tracking mechanism or something will all the ripping I've done..? Over 4 TB has been ripped. In any event.. I am sure that an accurate diagnosis would be difficult at best with just a description of the symptoms... I was just curious if anyone else had experienced this phenomenon.

I will need to flash the new drive after it arrives - I did it right the first time..I think I can do it again.. Same model of unit is coming..I'll use that tool that Windows 10 can use to "talk" to the firmware on the drive.. But I forgot all the steps.. I'll need to find the right guide again..

So, I have a WH14SN40 that I just bought (February 2021). I noticed that the guide here says to flash to 1.02, but the latest mkv firmware version is 1.05 (which is the same as the firmware on my drive). Do I use the 1.02 if I want to do UHD? Also, I assume this drive is encrypted. Am I correct? Thanks.

I'm a newbie here, but from what I've read so far, stock firmware above 1.02 disabled the ability to rip UHD discs. That's why they say you need to downgrade it to 1.02 (again stock firmware). As far as the mkv firmware, I'm not sure about those, but I do know they are not encrypted. And yes, your 1.05 firmware is encrypted, so whatever method you use to downgrade to 1.02 or install the mkv firmware, if there's an "enc" flag, you need to make sure you pass that in. I believe both SDFTool and MakeMKVCon use that "enc" flag.

So I've got a WH16NS40 that was originally reporting it's version as 1.03. Went through the steps in the youtube guide for encrypted firmware to flash it with the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin from the google drive. No error messages, and MakeMKV reports it as 1.02 now, but it still says unpatched instead of the Microcode Enabled message shown in the video.

Image

Is this something I should worry about? Is there another step I need to follow I missed?

Just wanted to verify that I did everything correctly when flashing my LG WH16NS40 that came with 1.05. Read tons of posts, watched the HAXOR v2 video and was still kinda confused.

So I took the easier way and used the sdftool_flasher and the mk-firmware-pack-20200720.

Ran the tool and flashed to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS40-NS50-1.05-NM00900-212005061440 from the "HL-DT-ST" folder with the enc option checked (after forgetting to click it the first time)

Then flashed to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936 from the "old" folder without enc checked.

No errors and drive seems to be working fine. Is 1.02 still the best firmware to be on or should I flash to the DE 1.00 or MK 1.01? I only use MakeMKV for ripping.

Thank you for this detailed description of how you modified the firmware for the LG WH16NS40 downgraded to the 1.02 firmware so that UHD discs can be ripped. Ai appreciate your step by step process.. It worked for me tonight! :)

Can I flash it to the proper WH16NS60 from this state to fix the sleep bug or will that cause more issues than it solves?
