All this wonderful work, thank you all who have supported this forum.
I am an advanced user, I have been reading alot of forum posts. I want to pull the trigger on: LG WH16NS60 16x Internal Blu-ray BDXL M-Disc Drive (with Ultra HD 4K Playback) Bundle with Cyberlink Software and SATA Cable from Amazon for $155.00 Is this a good drive to buy for ripping UHD Bluerays? What are the pitfalls with purchasing this drive.
Thank you.

Re: Recommended drives for UHD BlueRay ripping
thats not a good deal this is the same drive minus sata cable https://www.microcenter.com/product/607 ... toreid=029
and you can get that for like $3
i used to sell those drives preflashed and tested for less than what that amazon seller wants to bundle a sata cable with it for.
but really that drive is no different than a WH14NS40 for just ripping and thats about $50 same speed and everything once cross flashed

Re: Recommended drives for UHD BlueRay ripping
Billycar,
Thank you for your quick reply. I found this on Amazon (Microcenter does not carry this model anymore) https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-I ... ics&sr=1-3
Is this the model you were talking about?
The drive is going to drift between computers as its the only "Computer" BlueRay I have right now. It may become a permanent fixture in the living room if I upgrade my computer there to something a bit more powerful in the future. I currently have an Lenovo M700 Tiny with the Intel 530 graphics card and 8 gig ram (and ssd) It works pretty good but when I run across high bit rate blue ray moves it has a problem. Plays DVD files no problem, and most BlueRay files with very little problem. I know its the graphics card that sucks, but its what I have right now.
Thank you.

Re: Recommended drives for UHD BlueRay ripping
yeah thats the one just know it needs to be flashed before using to rip uhd same as WH16NS60
the UHD 530 should even playback UHD blurays rips fine it supports h.265 decoding
i can give you a automated self flash kit if you need one
just send me your makekmkv drive info section when you get it
