New hardware not able to read 4k

I recently upgraded my computer (CPU, GPU, Mobo) and have tried ripping a 4k movie, but no 4k disc will be read by Windows or MakeMKV, regular blu rays work fine with Windows and MakeMKV so I don't know why this would happen. I tried changing the permissions of the drive, but that didn't work.

Your drive is fine. No issue there. What does the log window at the bottom of MakeMKV say after you insert a UHD disc? Copy and paste the text.
MakeMKV requires internet access so it can download the hashed keys database (hosted in Russia) allowing you to rip UHD dics.

It says nothing, same as when I just open MakeMKV, I checked the log text file as well here's what it said

Have you used this drive before? Is it an actual BU40N? If not, what model is it? Did it work before you upgraded your PC? Can you try it on another PC?

I have used the drive before and have successfully ripped several films, it's a bp50n40 (SVC NB50) flashed with custom firmware, it did work on my computer previously and it can still read/rip non 4k blu rays normally. I don't have another computer that I could easily test on. I'm swapping from Intel to AMD, idk if that means anything. I did delete some excess files before upgrading, and some of them were downloads from when I was setting the drive up originally, I don't think I deleted anything important, I didn't delete anything in the program files, but I just want to note that in case it helps.

Since the discs don't even show, I'm wondering if the drive isn't getting enough power on your new computer. Try using USB ports direct from the motherboard (USB-C is even better if you can!). Don't use case ports as these often have poor quality wiring and don't supply enough constant power required for optical drives. If using the USB-A y-cable that comes with the BP50NB40, ensure both plugs are connected. Better yet, use an AC powered USB hub of at least 24w.

Tried a usb a to micro usb on the motherboard, didn't work, tried type c to micro usb also didn't work, just ordered a cable that has 2 usb a male and 1 male micro usb. I had been using the motherboard ports previosly with an adapter for type c to micro usb which also wasnt working. I also bought the drive off ebay and it didn't come with a cable. I had no issues with the cable on my previous motherboard.

Do you have any power saving settings set for the USB ports? You might need to check those settings and possibly turn them off.

I have the power mode set to high performance, is there something in the bios I should look for?

Nope, all out. Might just be something with AMD. The first PC I built back in 2002 was an AMD. I quickly sold that and have only ever built Intel PC's since. Much prefer Intel and Nvidia GPU's.

I just switched to all AMD so I can have better SteamOS/Linux compatibility for when Microsoft forces us to ditch Windows 10 lol. Thanks for the help though even if it didn't work, I still really appreciate you taking time to trying to help me. I'll probably end up rebuilding my old PC in a new case sometime and then try again from there since I still have all my old parts.

Geez, I ditched Windows 10 for Windows 11 as soon as it was released. Never had any real issues with it at all. I find it quite good actually.

I agree with everything Marty wrote regarding hardware. Do you have any special Antivirus / Firewall software running? The Makemkv server is located in Russia and might be blocked by it.
