I have been converting my blurays all to backup versions with makemkv, and I recently found a movie that will not play properly as a backup. When I make the backup...everything goes fine, but it will not access the menu, and if the menu is bypassed is starts from a tropical scene intead of the winter scene. i have tried making a mkv and it works fine. has anyone had this problem or know what the cause is?

You said you made a .mkv file and it worked fine. And you said the backup process finished successfully. That suggests the problem is with the player.

Thank you, i just ordered a LGWH16N40 from Amazon. I then will either get someone to change the firmware or I have heard DVDFAB has software that will do it for you. I hope it works... On amazon there was person that said it did work for this drive...I hope they are right.

If anyone has any info on changing the firmware with DVDFab or other ways...please speak up.

I was just reminded that Midway has screen pass protection. That's probably what's causing trouble for your player.

There's a maintained and dedicated post on this forum showing you how to change the firmware on a drive yourself.

That post has the instructions and links to all the tools and firmware you'll need. If you're on Windows, there's even a GUI to assist in flashing the firmware.
