I’ve actually tried two different methods from what I’ve read. My father who also is a member did the first through offsite access. He uses a Mac and he placed the keydb file on my desktop which didn’t work as it was requesting access to dvdfab which I do not have or intend to pay for. The other, I downloaded the keydb file and extracted then placed in my makemkv file on my computer. I restarted makemkv then tried repeatedly without success.
Just to clarify, the keydb doesn't request access to dvdfab or any other 3rd party utility. The keydb as recommended in this thread is literally just a very large plain text file.MSCloude115 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 12:51 pmI’ve actually tried two different methods from what I’ve read. Not every disc is supported by the keydb but dozens of discs are added every day. The user JinjoSnap has indicated that your particular disc is supported, so it seems that you have a configuration issue. This is normally caused by one of the following:MSCloude115 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 12:51 pmThe other, I downloaded the keydb file and extracted then placed in my makemkv file on my computer. Thanks so much! I’m not sure what I did that was different but I followed your instructions to a T and it started working. I appreciate your help and have a wonderful day!keydb_helper wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 1:32 pmJust to clarify, the keydb doesn't request access to dvdfab or any other 3rd party utility. I think you may have mixed it up with the FindVUK utility which is a means for making submissions to the keydb but is in no way a prerequisite for using the keydb.

I restarted makemkv then tried repeatedly without success.I've written up a brief guide to configure the public keydb here. Please let me know if any aspect is unclear. But essentially if you can download a zip file, extract it, and copy the resultant file to the correct folder you'll be able to process your disc right away. Otherwise you may have to wait several more days or weeks for MakeMKV to support your title.
- Failing to unzip the downloaded keydb_eng.zip file
- Downloading an ancient keydb.cfg file from a random mirror which doesn't include any UHD keys
- Placing the extracted keydb.cfg file in the incorrect directory
Glad to hear you got it working. Don't forget to update your local keydb.cfg file if you find another unsupported title.MSCloude115 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 1:52 pmThanks so much! How would I go about updating the file? Just download it again and replace?keydb_helper wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 2:16 pmGlad to hear you got it working. Ideally, you could download FindVUK.exe and then executeMSCloude115 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 2:40 pmHow would I go about updating the file? Just download it again and replace?
Code: Select all
findvuk synchronize

Just download it again and replace?to refresh a local copy of KEYDB.cfg. This would save you from downloading a large ZIP file each time.Code: Select all
