Transformers The Movie (1986) 4K Steelbook - can't copy

Post by theasset13 »

Hi everyone.

Bought the Transformers The Movie 4k Steelbook. Decrypts fine but get too many hash check errors - file is corrupt with 00006.m2ts (58GB) - this is with a fresh out of the box disc.

Tried manually copying the file - Windows copy also struggles. After a careful clean it eventually copied the offernding file but I still can't get MakeMKV to like it after tyring the copy without decryption on, cancel out on the first mt2s file method.

I'm using a LG WH16NS60 drive (1.20MK firmware).

I read that LG drives are fussy and Pioneers are the one to use. I'm happy to spend the money but I thought I would check the forum first to see if anyone else has this issue as I have ripped a few of my blu-ray/UHD discs with this drive and only had this issue with one ther disc (that I bought 2nd-hand). I would be gutted if a bought a Pioneer from a trader and the issue remained.

Thanks.

Did you try gently cleaning the disc? An error like:
Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00006.m2ts' at offset '43604508672'
means the drive was unable to correctly read a spot on the disc. The disc might be dirty or it might be damaged.

Generally Pioneer drives do a better job with marginal discs, but no drive is perfect.

Have tried cleaning a couple of times.

I’ll be gutted if it’s damaged as it was fresh out of the box. The surface looks ok.

Ok wow.

I cleaned the disc twice (carefully and did nto use a circular motion) - no luck.

So I went out and bought a new copy this morning of the exact same steelbook - worked flawlessly!

I don't undertsand how a fresh, never used (apparently), shrink wrapped product can be bad but lesson learned.

Thaks very much.
