So I have read through the various threads and it seems most are all for windows... do you happen to know where this file would go on a Mac? Or how I can force Makemkv do an update?

It's the directory that MakeMKV outputs the tgz dump files. Rename it to KEYDB.cfg (it is case sensitive) and restart MakeMKV.

you should be able to see it in the makemkv settings its called the data directory under general
