Hi,
Having been away from ripping for a good few years I'm back trying to tidy up my collection of UHD discs. My ASUS BC-12D2HT drive was bought back in 2018 and I've not touched the firmware on it. In Makemkv I get

I have been able to rip a couple of UHD discs, but only maybe 1 in 4. The discs I'm failing on aren't particularly new, so tonight I'm trying Guardians of the Galaxy 3, previously the last James Bond which was also unsuccessful which I thought would be a pretty common disc to rip and not that new.

I'm getting
"The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't de decrypted"
DEBUG: Code 0 at xxxxxxxxxxx (apologies if the exact values are important)
DEBUG: Code 0 at ........
Failed to open disc

I've tried to read up and the advice seemed to be check that Preferences->General-> Enable Internet Access is set (it is)

And I can do a nslookup on hkdata.fairuse.org which gives me:

The drive is in a very old PC, So windows 7, and on it's last legs. Likewise I understand a new Pioneer drive might be more reliable than the Asus, but before I invest I'd like to be sure that is the problem.

As there anything else I should be looking at ?

Might the keys not be being downloaded ?

Nothing wrong with Windows 7, I'm still using it and I'm sticking with it until I have absolutely no other choice!

Sounds to me like the optical drive is working just fine, so I only see two possible reasons...

Either you're unable to download the HK data, or the keys for those discs don't exist within the HK data?

I thought I saw a spreadsheet here somewhere that listed all the UltraHD titles that have had keys generated for them but I can't find it now (sorry), someone else may be able to point us to it?

But even if the title has been decrypted, there's a chance that the same title from a different distributor or region may not have been (different pressing = different keys).

So I guess your first step is to try to lookup your title on the list of keys (if such a thing exists). Secondly, confirm that you are downloading the latest HK data. And thirdly, try submitting new dumps.

You might try searching this forum to see if the titles in question already have a thread on them as well?

I've tried to find out if there's a way to see if a hash key has been generated previously, but can't see how.

Is there a way to see if this one has been processed previously without hassling people by sending it in:

Also, hkdata.crabdance.com seems to be used these days as well. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20851

I suggest you email your dump to svq@makemkv.com then wait. Around 7-10 days seems to be the norm of late.
