Unable to backup Plane or Top Gun UHD

Makemkv has been working great up to this point. Both of these titles give an error at the end of the backup process and files.

WH16NS60 is at firmware v1.3

I was able to fix this issue with Plane by simply changing the: View -> Preferences -> 'Video' tab -> Minimum title length (seconds) from 120 seconds to 9 seconds. I do not know why this works. Everything else is the same and I have been using these same settings for more than a year. Not sure what was missed at 120 seconds and less title length that would prevent the disc from being backed up. Still getting errors with Top Gun - Maverick.

Well, tried to downgrade the firmware and now the drive no longer reads UHD discs. Reads BluRay fine. Any recomendations?

As always, the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide has the list recommended firmware for the recommended drives.

As a side note, once you get your drive on the right firmware, it is best to leave the firmware alone.

Sounds like your drive is just bad those WH16/WH14xx and Asus BW drives are bad news.
Try shutting the computer down for a few and flip the PSU switch off and unplug the drive in innan external powered case.
But if it's new just return it and get a BU40N or bp50/60 or a pioneer from the list
