[SOLVED] Is "Backup Done" 100% guarranteed error-free?

Post by GameX »

Hello!

I've been backing up my 4K discs recently, and experienced trouble with Jurassic World Dominion. Bought disc new, but it's obvious that there's some trouble because it took multiples tries to rip correctly. I know the movie has both Thetrirical & Extended versions so I don't know if the playlist is different but...

After multiple attempts ("Backup done, but one file failed Hash Check"), I get "Backup Done" with this log, no error. Later I put the folders in an ISO with ImgBurn for archival & menus supprt, and play it with Kodi, but the movie is skipping even thought the log reported no error, why is that? Mounting the ISO and playing it with VLC seems to play the parts with skipping correctly. Would Kodi be the problem (that would be a first) ?

Disc definitely seems buggy even thought it looks pristine clean but given a few tries, it did rip hmm.

I dont understand, how can I make sure my other rips are perfect in the future if the log doesnt say so? Unless the rip is good and Kodi is the problem?

Thank you!

EDIT: Apparently, I can join the club of all the others before me who had trouble with "Jurassic World Dominion". Seems to be a bad pressing for sure. I got "Backup Done" after several tries, but I still have skips hmm. I guess it's just a crappy print run: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=29473

EDIT 2: Uh, MakeMKV was actually right into claiming "Backup Done", with no error.
I have noticed similar skips on "Lightyear" 4K and I figured the software, Kodi, was the actually culprit: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=241763

Playing from an ISO, will causes skips every time there is a segment change (when another M2TS file starts). Mounting/playing the ISO in VLC or ripping it to MKV will not stutter.
