Hi Everyone,
I’m new to the group and have read the posts about UHD ripping and file formats but can’t see one for this.

I’ve been ripping Blu ray and dvds for years without issue and they play on my smart tv.

When I rip a Blu ray 1080 I leave it as a raw mkv file that plays fine on my smart tv via a nas but a UHD mkv file isn’t recognized.

I’m using mkv and not sure if I’m doing anything wrong but ripped it a few times and can’t get it to play as an mkv on my tv but plays fine on my laptop.

Are there any specific setting tweaks that I need to do to get it to work?

Your tv probably does not support h.265 /hevc decoding

well it does support hvec but i guess not good get a nvidia shield Chromecast with google tv or an apple tv
